he City Council of Mbabane is delighted to endorse this work which
traces the history of the city from the early days of its beginnings right up to the
present and into the future. It also contains a great deal of additional information and
we believe that a work of this nature, complete with excerpts from writings by people who
were around at the start, as well as more recent input, is most appropriate as we approach
the new millennium.

will be of interest to a diversity of people - tourists, students, business people and
general readers - and the historical data it contains will provide an invaluable record
for posterity.
Photographs old and new are a vital part of this work and in themselves
tell a story. We are indeed grateful that such records are available both from the
National Archives and private sources for without these, this book would not be complete.
